flowering into landscapes

This week Peter and Demaris joined us, and we had great fun.  Peter and Demaris got to work using colored pencils to draw the vase of flowers while the rest of the gang got to work finishing off their paintings using alternate media to increase DEFINITION, and carefully selecting colors for their "frames."

I wish I had taken photos of all the work, so I could display it here.  It was all so well done!
Parents were asked to email me a photo of a favorite place for each child.  Thanks, parents!  Great work.

This week we started by tracing or drawing each image.  Peter, our drawing expert, decided to skip the tracing and go right to drawing.  Others chose to trace on the window for clarification on finer details.  I was focused on composition and keeping it simple. Next week we will mix colors again and paint.  I hope that each child will create several versions based on the original photo.  We looked at some Monet prints for inspiration.

This is the first part of our images, to be completed in mixed media next week.....
Now let's see what we can do with our secondary colors.  Start with secondary colors and and while for tints.  Let's try an impression of this vase of flowers.
